What went well
- Everyone was engaged
- Willing to put in the work to get everything done
- Everyone was contributing
- Had a good time, good energy
- We were a good team
- Enjoying the competition
What did not go well / what can we improve
- Getting stuff on the hardware was really hard
- We need a better plan before water tests / time slots
- Merge window with defined deadline ahead of time slot
- Simulation really hard to use
- Make it easier to sim
- Reduce computation
- Fix / validate the simulation to real topic mismatch
- Make sure that it’s clear which terminal is on which machine
- Everyone going to the water needs to know what we are doing
- Reduce people who need to carry things to the water
- Streamline the base station setup
- People talking in the tent
- We need radio comms procedures
- FPV for the boat?
- When doing software
- We didn’t plan very well
- We should have an architectural plan to communicate
- Specify the topics we expect
- Decide what we should not change, what we can alter
- Hard to learn under pressure
- With a plan, it’s much easier to do under pressure
- For RobotX, there is stuff software-wise we have not done yet
- Better definitions for inputs and outputs we expect
- Also documentation for this
- We were writing fundamental code while we were there
- We shouldn’t have to do the fundamentals and implementation while we are there
